Child Rights

Child Rights : CHILD RIGHTS IN INDIA

WHAT ARE CHILD RIGHTS?

The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) defines Child Rights as the minimum entitlements and freedoms that must be accorded to every human being below the age of 18 — regardless of race, nationality, colour, gender, language, religion, opinion, origin, wealth, birth status, disability, or any other characteristic.

These rights ensure that every child is given the opportunity to grow, learn, play, express themselves, and reach their full potential in a safe and nurturing environment.

CHILD RIGHTS AND SHALOM EDUCATION AND CHARITABLE SOCIETY

In India, millions of children are still deprived of their basic rights — the right to education, protection, health, and participation.

Formally established in Nagaland in 2024, SHALOM EDUCATION AND CHARITABLE SOCIETY places children’s rights at the heart of all its programmes and activities, making it one of India’s leading independent child rights organizations.

Our mission is to help every child exercise their fundamental rights. Through our programmes, advocacy, and community initiatives, we strive to ensure that:

  • Every child has access to quality education.

  • Every child enjoys good health and nutrition.

  • Every child lives in a safe and protective environment.

  • Every child is heard, valued, and empowered to shape their own future.

At SHALOM EDUCATION AND CHARITABLE SOCIETY, we believe that when a child’s rights are protected, their potential is limitless — and so is the future of our nation.
